To understand peak season, you will want to know whether you are going to Peninsular Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur, Georgetown/Penang, Cameron Highlands) or to Malaysian Borneo.

Monsoon Season is the wettest and is best to avoid the different areas during these times:

Eastern Peninsula – Wet from October to March

Western Peninsula – Wet from May to October

Borneo – Wet from November to February

Nasi Lemak – National dish with coconut rice served with sambal, fried anchovies, peanuts, and cucumber.

Laksa – Spicy noodle soup, either creamy coconut-based Curry Laksa, or Assam laksa, sour and fish-based with tamarind.

Char Kway Teow: Flat rice noodles stir-fried in a smoky wok with shrimp, cockles, eggs, and bean sprouts.
